Grant facilitation

Rather than calling myself a grant writer or editor, I prefer to think of myself as a grant facilitator. When I begin working with an investigator who plans to submit a grant, I carefully review the guidelines published by the granting agency, and then work with the investigator to make sure that all bases are covered. If the grant is a resubmission, I review the critiques received from earlier submissions and assist the investigator in responding to those critiques.

During development of the proposal, I continue to work with the investigators to ensure adherence to time lines and acquisition of all supporting documents and information. I provide guidance on whether the application addresses the important themes identified by the RFA.

When the proposal is in draft form, I edit the various components for grammar and punctuation, consistency in style, and clarity of language. Beyond this, I read each manuscript to make sure the concepts are presented clearly; and that interactions with associated projects, colleagues, and/or resources are clear and prominent.
